[July 10, 2015]  July 9 (The Sports Xchange) - The Columbus Blue Jackets re-signed restricted free agent left wing Matt Calvert to a three-year contract through the 2017-18 season.

"Matt Calvert is a heart-and-soul player who works hard on and off the ice and is a relentless competitor at both ends of the rink," general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said.

"He's been an important contributor to our team and we are excited that he will continue to be a part of our organization moving forward."

Calvert, 25, posted 13 goals and 10 assists with 28 penalty minutes in 56 games with the Blue Jackets during the 2014-15 season.

A native of Brandon, Manitoba, Calvert has tallied 42 goals and 44 assists and 141 penalty minutes in 209 NHL games with the Blue Jackets since beginning his professional career in 2010-11.

The Chicago Blackhawks reached a one-year contract agreement with forward Dennis Rasmussen.

The 25-year-old Rasmussen played in 73 regular-season games for Rockford in the American Hockey League last season and had 13 goals and 14 assists.

Before coming to America, Rasmussen played in 149 Swedish Hockey League games with Vaxjo and totaled 40 goals and 45 assists.

He also was a member of Sweden's bronze-medal team in the 2014 World Championships and the 2010 World Junior Championships.

The Dallas Stars signed defenseman Jamie Oleksiak to a one-year deal reportedly worth $875,000. The 2011 first-round pick will be arbitration-eligible next summer.

Oleksiak, 22, registered eight points in 36 games with the Stars last season, including scoring his first NHL goal. The blueliner has 10 points in 59 NHL games and 72 points with a plus-53 rating in 163 AHL games.

"Jamie is a young player with great potential who is evolving into a solid all-around defenseman," Stars general manager Jim Nill said. "We look forward to him being an important member of our defense moving forward."

The Detroit Red Wings agreed to terms with goaltender Jared Coreau on a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Coreau, 23, was signed by Detroit in 2013 after starring for three seasons at Northern Michigan University. He has spent time with Grand Rapids of the AHL and Telodo of the ECHL each season since.

He was 16-8-1 with a 2.20 goals-against average and a 0.927 save percentage last season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed recently acquired defenseman Martin Marincin to a one-year contract.

Marincin, 23, came to the Maple Leafs in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers on June 27 in exchange for forward Brad Ross and a fourth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

In 85 NHL games during the past two seasons with the Oilers, Marincin had one goal, 10 assists and 32 penalty minutes. He was drafted in the second round by Edmonton in 2010.
