[July 14, 2015]  July 13 (The Sports Xchange) - With Wednesday's deadline for a long-term contract approaching, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant demanded action from executive vice president Stephen Jones.

According to ESPN's Ed Werder, Bryant called Jones last week to tell the Cowboys that he will not report to training camp and will sit out regular-season games without a new contract by Wednesday, the NFL's deadline for franchise players to sign long-term deals.

The report said negotiations are not active, with only one meeting between the Cowboys and Bryant's representatives.

Bryant's one-year franchise designation pays him $12.8 million for 2015.

Bryant led the NFL with 16 touchdown receptions and is seeking a deal worth more than $100 million over seven or eight years, in line with the contracts of the league's highest-paid receivers, Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions) and Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals).

Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, who has not signed his franchise tender, is up against Wednesday's deadline to work out a new deal.

According to a Pro Football Talk source with knowledge of the situation, it is currently "not likely" that the Broncos and Thomas will work out a new contract before the deadline.

The NFL Players Association reportedly is investigating what it considers possible collusion by the Dallas Cowboys and Broncos regarding their franchise wide receivers.

Thomas has three consecutive seasons with at least 92 catches, 1,430 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns.

Also on Monday, President Barack Obama announced he was commuting the sentences of 46 drug offenders including Katina Smith, Thomas' mother.

She will be released from a federal prison on Nov. 10.

Emergency crews were still searching late on Monday for former wide receiver JaJuan Dawson. Dawson, 37, was boating Sunday afternoon at a lake near Dallas when he either fell into the lake or dove into the water.

There were three children and two other adults on the boat at the time Dawson went missing.

Former Green Bay defensive back Jarrett Bush has been suspended for four games by the NFL for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, according to multiple reports.

Bush remains unsigned following the 2014 season in which the nine-year veteran played in 15 games for the Packers.
