A plan for a $500 million arena in Milwaukee was unveiled in June,
and Gov. Scott Walker and team and city officials pushed a bill
seeking about $250 million in public funding.
The arena, which would replace the 27-year-old BMO Harris Bradley
Center, would be part of an estimated $1 billion development in
downtown Milwaukee. The Bucks have committed $250 million and would
be responsible for cost overruns.
The NBA had said it would buy the Bucks and move the team if a new
arena was not in place by October 2017. The lease at BMO Harris
Bradley Center ends in 2017.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban cleared the air with owner Steve
Ballmer and the Clippers, who lured DeAndre Jordan back to Los
Angeles with a well-attended lock-in at Jordan's Houston home.
"I told him exactly what I told other owners: I didn't have a
problem with his Hail Mary approach to keeping a player," Cuban
wrote on Cyber Dust. "I understood why they did it. And even how
they did it. They got their player back. End of story."
Jordan agreed to a four-year, $80 million contract with the
Mavericks but backed out and returned to the Clippers.

The Toronto Raptors signed free-agent forward Luis Scola to a
multi-year contract and also signed second-round guard Norman
Powell.
The 6-foot-9 Scola averaged 9.4 points and 6.5 rebounds in 81 games
with the Indiana Pacers last season.
The eight-year NBA veteran holds career averages of 12.7 points, 7.0
rebounds and 26.8 minutes with Houston (2007-12), Phoenix (2012-13)
and Indiana (2013-15).
Powell, a 6-foot-4 guard out of UCLA, was drafted 46th overall last
month. Through three Summer League games in Las Vegas, he leads the
Raptors with 19.3 points per game.

The Philadelphia 76ers signed guard Pierre Jackson.
Terms were not released, but the Philadelphia Inquirer reported the
deal is a partially guaranteed four-year contract.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Jackson was the 42nd overall pick out of
Baylor by Philadelphia in the 2013 NBA Draft.
His rights were traded to New Orleans along with Jrue Holiday in
exchange for the rights to Nerlens Noel in what turned out to be the
10th overall pick in the 2014 draft.
During the 2014 draft, Jackson's rights were traded back to the
Sixers in exchange for the rights to Russ Smith, who was the 47th
overall pick that year.

The Boston Celtics waived guard Phil Pressey before his contract for
next season became fully guaranteed.
Pressey averaged 3.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 50
games last season for the Celtics.
The 24-year-old Pressey was expendable after the Celtics selected
Terry Rozier and R.J. Hunter in the draft last month. He was
scheduled to make about $950,000 next season

Brooklyn Nets forward Thomas Robinson underwent arthroscopic surgery
on his right knee.
The surgery to remove torn cartilage from his knee was performed at
the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan by Nets Dr. Riley
Williams III.
Robinson was injured Tuesday while working out in New York City. He
is expected to be ready for on-court activities before training
camp.
