07/14/2015 MLB Note - Los Angeles Angels Trout, Mike

CF Mike Trout, who hit a leadoff homer, was the All-Star MVP for the second year in a row, the first player ever to accomplish that feat.

He finished 1-for-3 with a walk, and he scored runs.

With the homer, Trout has singled, doubled, tripled and homered in an All-Star Game, the ninth player to do so. He joined Willie Mays, Steve Garvey, Gary Carter and Cal Ripken Jr. as the only two-time All-Star Game MVPs.

"It's humbling and an honor to win MVP," Trout said. "It's a special moment for me and my family. I just come out and play hard for nine innings every day."

LHP Clayton Kershaw, the losing pitcher in the All-Star Game, allowed two runs and three hits in his lone inning. "It was fun, except for giving up the runs," Kershaw said. "I wasn't really throwing the ball where I wanted to."

MLB Note - Cincinnati Reds Chapman, Aroldis

LHP Aroldis Chapman struck out three consecutive batters in the ninth inning of the All-Star Game in his home ballpark. His fastball sat above 100 mph throughout his outing.

MLB Note - Minnesota Twins Dozier, Brian

2B Brian Dozier became the 16th player to homer in his first All-Star Game at-bat, going deep in the eighth inning as a pinch hitter. He homered off Pirates RHP Mark Melancon, then stayed in the game to play defense.
