Woman's Club holds year end luncheon

[June 01, 2015]  LINCOLN - The Lincoln Woman’s Club held their closing luncheon on Wednesday, May 20. Lincoln High School senior, Grace Walters was introduced to the membership as the first recipient of the Lincoln Woman’s Club Scholarship.

In addition, new members were initiated; long-term members were recognized including 43 year member Bernetta DePuy, 44 year member Carol Schwantz, and 66 year member Ruth Hoppin; and a memorial service was held for Lois Conrady and Geraldine Miller.

A report for the GFWC Illinois State Convention was shared. During the convention, clubs were recognized for service to their communities. Lincoln Woman’s Club is in the 51+ member’s category.



The club received the following awards:

Arts—1st Place,
Child Abuse—2nd Place,
Club Membership Recognition for Recruitment, Communication and Public Relations—1st Place,
Conservation—3rd Place,
Fundraising—1st Place,
Leadership—3rd Place,
Legislation/Public Policy—1st Place,
Membership—1st Place.

In addition, Lynn Spellman was recognized for her participation in ESO.

New officers for 2015-2016 were installed by Barbara Dahm, Parliamentary Advisor. Installed were Carol Mills, Second Vice-President; Diane Osborn, Secretary; Judy Rader, Treasurer; and Directors Carol Farmer and Susan Rohrer.

The Lincoln Woman’s Club was organized on July 7, 1896. The club currently has 80 members. The next meeting of the club will be September 16. Individuals interested in membership should contact Judy Lumpp, Membership Chairman.
