[June 01, 2015]  LINCOLN - “The rhythm is gonna getcha” at Lincoln Public Library this summer as we kick off the 2015 “Read to the Rhythm!” Summer Reading Program. Registration for children and young adults (ages 6 months – grade 12) will be Monday, June 8 – Saturday, June 13. Can’t come in that week? Join us later in June and get in on the fun!

Children, ages 6 months through 5th grade, can sign up to read for cool prizes and choose to participate in a variety of programs and events for their age group.

We have story times for our younger patrons, Explorer Club for our older hands-on learners, and Friday Workshops for our budding artists.

The Lincoln Public Library is located at 725 Pekin St., with adult nonfiction and reference materials in the historic Carnegie Building. The Annex directly behind houses adult fiction and the Youth Services Department.

All library events are free and open to the public. Online, visit www.lincolnpubliclibrary.org.

Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Phone 217-732-8878 for adult services and 217-732-5732 for youth services.

As always, our Thursday morning events will be chock-full of fabulous performers including unicyclists, musicians, magicians and more! We’ve also scheduled a special evening family event filled with music and fun.

Young adults, grades 6 through 12, have a program designed especially for them, with weekly prize drawings (two winners each week) and a grand prize drawing for a $50 Walmart gift card.

The library will be hosting two special events for this age group, including a drum circle led by an area professional and line dancing with a local teacher.

This summer we are bringing you everything you’ve loved about past programs, with added flexibility.
