[June 02, 2015]  June 1 (The Sports Xchange) - Fred Hoiberg traveled to Chicago on Monday to meet with the Bulls about becoming their coach.

Although he told reporters that no deal had been finalized, he also said: "When this opportunity came about, this was something that interested me greatly. One of my life goals is to coach in that league."

The Bulls have focused on the Iowa State coach since firing Tom Thibodeau on Thursday. Thibodeau was fired despite leading the team to the playoffs in each of his five seasons.

Multiple media outlets reported over the weekend that Hoiberg and the Bulls were negotiating a five-year contract.

ESPN's Jeff Goodman reported that the sides are expected to complete a deal, barring a last-second collapse in negotiations. Hoiberg has informed several Iowa State players and staff members that he is leaving, Goodman reported.

Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson, who suffered a concussion in Game Five of the Western Conference finals, participated in all facets of practice on Monday, according to the San Jose Mercury News, strengthening the belief that he will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's Game One of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Thompson still must pass the league's concussion protocol to be cleared to play, but he reportedly is not having any headaches.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving did not participate in all aspects of the Cavaliers' practice as he tries to get ready for Thursday's game.

Irving has been bothered throughout the playoffs by tendinitis in his left knee and a sprained right foot.
