Abraham Lincoln Healthcare Foundation Names Scholarship Recipients

[June 09, 2015]  LINCOLN - The Abraham Lincoln Healthcare Foundation (ALHF) has named three 2015 Healthcare Career Scholarship recipients. Pictured left to right, Lauren Lynn of Mason City, Brian Bishop of Lincoln, and Alexa Meister of Mount Pulaski will receive a total of $50,000 to help pursue their healthcare education.

Each scholarship includes an agreement to work their first job out of college at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital (ALMH) in Lincoln.

ALHF has made a commitment to invest in the future workforce of ALMH through its Healthcare Career Scholarship Program.

Lynn, Meister, and Bishop were selected for the scholarship after a rigorous application process that included three rounds of interviews, reference checks and job shadowing at ALMH. Lynn, a current ALMH Nurse Technician is pursuing a bachelors of science in Nursing at Methodist College and will graduate in May 2016. Meister is also pursuing a bachelors of science in nursing and will join the ALMH team in May 2017. Bishop, who is currently working as a phlebotomist at ALMH, will be pursuing a Medical Laboratory Technician degree with a May 2017 completion date.

ALHF reports that this is the fifth year for the scholarship program. Past scholarship recipients include: Hannah Sheley, Alissa Cross, Lindsey Sanders, Lyndi Leesman, Betsy Leesman, Jade Dean, Abigale Wake and Jacqueline Martincic. The first two program graduates, Betsy Leesman and Lyndi Leesman, will be joining staff the ALMH staff this summer.

“Supporting the studies of students who have made job commitments to ALMH reflects the mission of both the foundation and the hospital,” said Eric Graue, Chairman of the Abraham Lincoln Healthcare Foundation. “We are confident that we are doing the right thing for the students, the hospital, and our community.”
