[June 12, 2015]  LINCOLN - After turning over the Route 66 Garage Sale a few years ago to local entrepreneur and business owner, Andrea Dykman, the annual event is still thriving, with over 75 garage sales this weekend in Lincoln and also Atlanta, Burtonview and Broadwell. The sale runs 8 a.m. to dusk all three days.

The event began as a fund raiser in 2007, headed by Bruce Huskins of Lincoln, in conjunction with the Route 66 Heritage Foundation of Logan County. As efforts focused on construction projects at The Mill, the group passed the torch to Dykman, who is also a co-owner of Lincoln Printers.

Flea markets will be set up at the Mill, located at 738 S. Washington, the VFW Post 1756 building on 5th St, Lincoln IGA and Logan County Humane Society at the fairgrounds in Lincoln.

This weekend also is the Route 66 Association of Illinois Motor Tour and Hall of Fame banquet. The banquet is Saturday night at Lincoln College, followed by a Motor Tour passport stop Sunday morning at The Mill.

Sale maps can be found at route66garagesale.com and various locations around the community.
