[June 16, 2015]  MOUNT PULASKI- John H. Cherry, 71, passed away at 10:42 a.m. on June 13, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski.

Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday June 17, at the church

Funeral home: Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, Mount Pulaski

Obituary

John H. Cherry, 71, passed away at 10:42 a.m. on June 13, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

John was born on February 10, 1944 in Lincoln; son of Everett L. and Jessie E. Bryson Cherry. He married Janet Poffenbarger on March 18, 1967 in Mount Pulaski, she survives him.

Also surviving John are his children: Julie (Jeff) Cooper and Randy (Amy) Cherry both of Mount Pulaski; one sister: Ruth Fuiten of Mount Pulaski; one brother: Edward (Marilyn) Cherry of Elkhart; four grandchildren: Jordan Cooper, Janson Cooper, Jayden Cherry, and Jaelyn Cherry. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Timothy, and brother-in-law; Bob Fuiten.

 

John was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Elkhart American Legion Post #616, and served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967. He farmed in the Lake Fork and Cornland area for 53 years.

Services for John will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday June 17, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski with Rev. Glenn Strohschein officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday June 16, 2015 also at the church. A burial at Steenbergen Cemetery in Mount Pulaski will follow the service where military rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran School Playground Fund. Services entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
