The Baseball Classic features local ballplayers

[June 17, 2015]  Aron Hopp, Jordan Yarcho and Cooper Hake represented the Lincoln Railers as members of the Central State Eight Conference Team, while Michael Lowery was a member of the All-Area Team during Tuesday night's Baseball Classic. The game was played at Claude Kracik Field on the campus of Lincoln Land Community College.

The All-Area Team defeated the Central State Eight Team 4-1 in the contest which featured some of the best baseball players in Central Illinois.

Both Yarcho and Lowery pitched for their respective teams, with Lowery going four innings and giving up the one run to the Central State Eight All-Stars.

Offensively for the Central State Eight All-Stars, Yarcho had one hit, while Hopp had a walk and two stolen bases.
The All-Area Team was led offensively by the Williamsville duo of Vince Vignali and Talon File. Vignali, a junior, had a two-run single that capped a three-run third inning for the winning team, while File, a sophomore, was 2-2 including a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning for the All-Area Team's fourth run. Winning pitcher for the All-Area Team was Reid Detmers of Nokomis, and Tyler Schlecht of Rochester was the losing pitcher for the Central State Eight All-Stars.

The All-Area Team was coached by Jess Buttry of Williamsville and Tommy Myers of Auburn.

The Central State Eight Conference Team was coached by Brad Leininger of Southeast, Joel Naumovich of Sacred Heart-Griffin and Kyle Moomey of Southeast.
