Davis earns All-American honors as volleyball team places 2nd in the nation

[June 23, 2015]  MOUNT PULASKI - Mount Pulaski's Maddy Davis earned All-American honors Tuesday afternoon as her volleyball team, Illini Elite 17 Cardinal, placed second in the nation at the AAU Girls' Junior National Volleyball Tournament in Orlando, Florida.

The Illini Elite 17 Cardinal participated in the 17 Open division of the national tournament and posted a 9-3 record in the tournament. This Illini Elite 17 Cardinal team, based out of Bloomington, Illinois, lost in the national championship, 25-19 and 29-27, to AVC Clev Rox 17N Hawks, a team from Cleveland, Ohio.

Throughout the tournament, which was held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports and the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, the Illini Elite 17 Cardinal team won 20 of the 28 sets that they played.

Davis was one of twelve players earning the All-American honors out of 600 girls competing in the tournament from 60 teams at this level of competition.

Congratulations to Maddy Davis, who will be a senior at Mount Pulaski High School in the fall.
