Burge and Curry awarded scholarships from American Legion

[June 26, 2015]  LINCOLN - The American Legion Post 263, the Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion recently present Brock Burge and Levi Curry with Vocational Scholarships for $1,000 each.

The young men who are good friends are planning to attend Lincoln Land Community College in pursuit of a career in Electrical Lineman Distribution with goals of working for Ameren Illinois.

The scholarship awards are made possible through the Schnitzel fundraisers held at the Legion on the third Wednesday of April, July, and October.

Those who were present at the check presentation included Shirley Winterbauer of the Legion Auxiliary, American Legion Chaplain Robert Sullivan, Commander Roger Bay, Michael Thornton representing the Sons of the American Legion. Also on the scholarship committee is American Legion Financial Officer Michael Tackett, who was unable to attend.
