Middletown Fire Protection District celebrating 60th Anniversary

[June 29, 2015]  MIDDLETOWN - The Middletown Firemen’s Fall Festival will be held September 25 & 26 in Middletown IL hosted by the Middletown Fire Protection District. The Festival celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the MFPD and its service to the Middletown community and area. The firemen, their families and community friends continue to plan for the fall event.

The weekend’s activities kick off on Friday at 4 p.m. with a car show, food and craft vendors and Big M Amusement Carnival. The Middletown Methodist Church will be hosting a dinner at the church for Friday evening visitors. Area Veterans will be honored at 5:30 p.m. in the Village Park. A Chip-Timed 5K Glow Run with participant medals and awards for teams & individuals will begin at 8 p.m. with the start and finish line at the park. Middletown DJ’s Josh Hoffert & Misty Canada will be spinning tunes during the evening. Bingo and raffles will be held during Friday night’s fun.

Big M Amusements’ rides will be thrilling visitors again on Saturday. The New Holland-Middletown Community Supports Education committee will be serving breakfast at the park beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning. A parade will kick off at 10 a.m. followed by kid’s games. Food & Craft Vendors will be set up and ready for business. Bingo & raffles continue during the day. Join us to watch area Fire Departments as they battle against one another at the Firemen’s Water Fights. The Stagecoach Bar & Grill will be hosting a Bags Tournament during the afternoon. Fire Fighters from the area will be honored during a 5 p.m. ceremony. Saturday night will be rounded out with live entertainment in the park.

Thus far food booths are being hosted by the Knapp-Chestnut-Becker Library, Middletown Legion Auxiliary and Middletown 4-H. It is hoped that there will be more groups join in before the big event.

The festival committee is very appreciative of the area sponsors who are helping support the weekend festival. Sponsors will be recognized throughout the event with packages based upon sponsorship level.
