Georgia police officer killed in shootout: WXIA

[March 04, 2015]  (Reuters) - A Georgia police officer was killed in a shootout with a suspect early on Wednesday, local broadcaster WXIA reported.

Fulton County officers went out to investigate reports of shots and came under fire around 1:30 a.m. local time, WXIA said citing police.

The officer, who has not been identified, was hit in the head and a suspect was wounded when police fired back, the station added.

Police could not be immediately reached for comment.
