Tuesday night fire causes $75,000 damage to State Street home

[March 04, 2015]  LINCOLN - On March 3rd at 8:44 p.m. the Lincoln Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 105 S. State Street in Lincoln.

Lincoln fire units arrived on scene first and encountered smoke and flames at the front door and also at a side window. Lincoln fire crews made an attack from the outside, the quickly made entry through the front door. Firefighters battled the blaze of an hour before the fire was under control. Investigators from the Lincoln Fire Department remained on the scene.

There was a family of three that lived in the house. The family and a family friend were there at the time of the fire. All occupants were able to leave the building safely. The Salvation Army is assisting the family.

No occupants or firefighters were injured during the fire. The family dog was inside during the fire. Firefighters rescued the dag. A special thanks to the Logan County Paramedics unit on scene in assisting with the treatment of the dog. The dog survived and is doing well.

The damage to the structure and property was approximately $75,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
