[March 12, 2015]  March 11 (The Sports Xchange) - The NBA announced Wednesday that the players union formally rejected a so-called "cap-smoothing" proposal the league put forth in anticipation of the largest salary-cap jump in league history for the 2016-17 season.

In a meeting Tuesday in New York, the National Basketball Players Association informed league executives that it would not agree to an artificially gradual increase in the salary cap related to the nine-year, $24 billion broadcast agreements that begin in 2016, CBSSports.com reported.

The Phoenix Suns signed guard Seth Curry to a 10-day contract, the team announced.

Seth Curry, the younger brother of Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, averaged 23.5 points in 36 games with the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League this season.

The Dallas Mavericks reassigned center/forward Dwight Powell to the Texas Legends of the NBA Development League.

The 6-foot-11, 240-pound Powell has appeared in 19 games for the Mavericks this season, averaging 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 10 minutes per game. (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
