LINCOLN - There’s a safer alternative
to driving for anyone who has too much to drink celebrating St.
Patrick’s Day in Lincoln. On March 17, free rides home will be
available to those who need it through the HCP Safe Ride program.
Safe Ride is a free ride home from Lincoln drinking establishments
and is sponsored by the Healthy Communities Partnership.

“St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday of celebration spent with friends
and family. Oftentimes alcohol is part of the celebration. The
Healthy Communities Partnership offers Safe Rides to help keep the
streets safer for everyone. Our hope is that the community will
remember the service is available and that bartenders will suggest
it when necessary,” said Angela Stoltzenburg, Healthy Community
Partnerships Manager.
The program now asks participants to ask the bartender for a Safe
Ride ticket to receive a free ride home. The bartenders will call
the cab company, A Green Cab of Lincoln.
