03/17/2015 NFL Note - Washington Redskins McCoy, Colt

QB Colt McCoy was re-signed by the Redskins to a one-year contract Tuesday (March 17).

McCoy ended the season with a neck injury but played in five games, completing 71.1 percent of his passes.

NFL Note - Minnesota Vikings Harris, Michael

T Mike Harris, a restricted free agent, was re-signed by the Vikings Tuesday (March 17).

Harris joined the Vikings in August 2014, when he was claimed off waivers from the San Diego Chargers, and played in 12 games during the 2014 season.

Harris started the final five games of the season for the Vikings at right tackle.

From 2012-13, Harris played for the Chargers, starting 12 of 20 games.

Harris entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2012 after playing collegiately at UCLA.

NFL Note - New England Patriots Cadet, Travaris

RB Travaris Cadet was signed by the Patriots Tuesday (March 17).

Cadet, a pass-catching specialist, played for the New Orleans Saints last year, compiling 38 receptions for 296 yards. He became a free agent when the Saints elected not to tender him as a restricted free agent. For his career, the three-year veteran only has 11 carries.

The Saints originally signed Cadet as an undrafted free agent out of Appalachian State in 2012.

NFL Note - Oakland Raiders Richardson, Trent

RB Trent Richardson landed with his third team in his brief NFL career, signing as a free agent with the Raiders Tuesday (March 17).

Richardson, who was released last week by the Indianapolis Colts after an unproductive 1 1/2 seasons, said he met with the Raiders on Monday night and the next day received a two-year, $3.9 million contract, according to NFL Network.

He sees the Raiders as a chance for a fresh start after mostly struggling in his first three seasons.

"I know this playbook already, especially when it comes to the run," Richardson said. "I know what they expect and how they're going to spread the field, putting me in a position to be successful. With that, in talking to coach (Jack Del Rio), he just said there is just a lot of opportunity out here. He said he isn't going to promise me anything, but if I come in and work, I can be that bell cow."

Last season, Richardson played in 15 games and started 12 for the Colts, finishing with 519 yards rushing on 159 carries for a 3.3-yard average. The 24 year old lost his starting job during the season and was suspended during the postseason.

"From the beginning, trying to fit into their program, it was different for me," Richardson said Tuesday. "For me, it was more of me being an all-time blocker. There's nothing wrong with blocking, but I still want to be able to help the team in different types of ways.

"I don't look at it as a bad thing. I just think it was a bad marriage. With that, I don't blame the O-line or anybody else. At the end of the day, I can still get better and I'm going to be working my tail off and trying to be the best running back now."

Richardson joined the Colts in October 2013 after the team gave up a first-round draft pick in a deal with the Cleveland Browns.

"I spent the whole year, just wondering, why in the world and how in the world did I get traded," Richardson said. "Looking back at it, even if they said it was a business move, in my head, it's still

NFL Note - San Diego Chargers Johnson, Stevie

WR Stevie Johnson signed with the Chargers Tuesday (March 17), less than one week after his release from the San Francisco 49ers.

He started just one game and appeared in 13 with 35 receptions for 435 yards and three touchdowns last season.

Johnson spent one season with the 49ers and didn't meet expectations. He visited the Chargers on Friday and spent Monday in Foxborough with the New England Patriots.

NFL Note - Baltimore Ravens Cox, Morgan

LS Morgan Cox was re-signed by the Ravens Tuesday (March 17).

NFL Note - Miami Dolphins Clay, Charles

TE Charles Clay signed a huge offer sheet with the Bills Tuesday (March 17) in an effort to lure him from the division-rival Miami Dolphins, multiple media outlets reported.

According to the Buffalo News, the Bills' offer is for five years and $38 million, with more than $20 million guaranteed. Clay would make $24.5 million over the first two seasons of the contract.

The Miami Herald reported that the Dolphins weren't offering Clay more than $7 million per season in recent talks.

Because the Dolphins used the transition tag on Clay, they have five days to match the Bills' offer. If Clay signed back with Miami under the transition-tag tender, he would have received a $7.071 million salary for 2015.

Structuring the offer to Clay with a reported high salary-cap hit in 2016 could be a problem for the Dolphins. Miami recently signed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to a free-agent deal that includes a $6.1 million salary-cap hit in 2015 but a $28.6 million hit in 2016.

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, center Mike Pouncey and defensive end Olivier Vernon also will be in the market for new contracts heading into 2016.

Clay, 26, had 58 catches for 605 yards and three touchdowns last season. A sixth-round pick by the Dolphins in 2011 out of Tulsa, Clay enjoyed his best season in 2013, making 69 receptions for 759 yards and six touchdowns.

Miami already has a backup plan in case Clay exits: The Dolphins signed free-agent tight end Jordan Cameron to a two-year, $15 million deal. Cameron formerly played with the Cleveland Browns.
