[March 19, 2015]  LINCOLN - The First United Methodist Church, located at 302 Broadway in Lincoln will host a special time of blessing and prayer for the safety of farmers, farm managers, and any other workers in Agriculture fields this Sunday, March 22nd.

Michael Paulson, the church's pastor, said, "With planting time drawing near, we know that lots of people in our community are going to be heading out into the fields or gearing up for a busy season very soon. We know that Ag work involves a higher risk of accidents compared to other types of work. We also know that the 'busy-ness' of the planting and harvest seasons creates stress for spouses and families of Ag workers. We want to offer a way for these special people in our community to connect with the power of the living God . . . to take a moment to ask for God's blessing and protection for Ag workers and their families before planting time begins."

Brad Curtis is the music leader of the church's new Country Casual worship service. He added, "Very early in the story of God in the Bible, God says, 'I am going to bless you; BE a blessing' to the people you share life with. We love the Lincoln community, and we want to be a blessing to people in our community. Jesus used a lot of images from farming and gardening to reveal more about who God is, and we want to bless a group of people who are tied into the rhythms of feeding people in our country and across the world."
