[March 20, 2015]  March 19 (The Sports Exchange) - The Boston Bruins assigned goaltender Jeremy Smith to Providence of the American Hockey League.

The 25-year-old Smith did not see any action with the Bruins but dressed as a backup for two games.

The Winnipeg Jets agreed to terms with defenseman Jan Kostalek on a three-year entry-level contract with an average annual value of $850,000.

Kostalek, 20, is in his third season with the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He has seven goals and 36 assists in 55 games.

The Dallas Stars assigned defenseman Esa Lindell from Assat of the Finnish Elite League to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.

Lindell, 20, finished third on Assat with 35 points (21 assists) in 57 games this year. The 14 goals and 35 points were tied for the league lead among defensemen.

Forward Sam Carrick was recalled from the Toronto Marlies on an emergency basis by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Carrick, 23, has recorded 25 points (18 assists) in 50 games with the Marlies this season. The Markham, Ontario, native has played in 10 games for the Maple Leafs. (Editing by Cameron French)
