[March 21, 2015]  March 20 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Friday's National Hockey League games:

Lightning 3, Red Wings 1

In a potential opening-round playoff preview, Tampa Bay got a big boost toward securing home ice in the first round, building their lead ove Detroit with a 3-1 win over the Red Wings at Amalie Arena.

The Lightning (44-21-7) came in with a six-point lead on Detroit (38-21-11) for second place in the Atlantic, but with the Red Wings having two extra games remaining, the win helps extend Tampa Bay's lead and keeps pressure on first-place Montreal.

With Detroit pressing to tie the game on Friday, Steven Stamkos clinched the win on an empty-net goal with 28 seconds remaining, his 40th of the season.
