[March 30, 2015]  MOUNT PULASKI - The Mount Pulaski Toppers baseball team traveled to Farmer City Friday night and lost 3-1 to Blue Ridge.

The Toppers fell behind 1-0 in the third inning on two errors, two walks and a hit batter. Michael Lowery was on the mound and finally managed to strike out three batters and get out of the third inning jam without further damage. In the bottom of the fifth inning Lowery allowed a two-run home run and Blue Ridge was up 3-0. In the top of the seventh inning the Toppers managed to avoid the shutout as Beau Collier and Matt Amidon walked and each stole a base. Brett Huff's sacrifice fly led to the Toppers only run.

The Toppers bats have just not come alive yet this cold spring and Beau Collier and Brett Huff were the only Toppers with hits on the afternoon. Lowery (0-2) struck out 10 batters as the Toppers fell to 0-4 on the season.

Mount Pulaski will play at Heyworth Monday at 4:15 p.m. and host Illini Central on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
