[May 09, 2015]  LINCOLN - On Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., Lincoln College will hold its 2015 graduation ceremonies at Lincoln Center.

This year the college is celebrating its 150th anniversary and has secured Governor Bruce Rauner as the guest speaker for the event.

On Monday evening, a representative from the Lincoln College Normal Campus said that in honor of the 150th and because the governor is the guest speaker this year, the graduates from the Normal campus will march with the Lincoln graduates.

Because of this, the college is expecting heavy traffic around Lincoln Center on Saturday afternoon.

There will also be higher security around the campus because of the governor’s appearance and also there is at least one Springfield television network planning on attending.

In addition to speaking, Rauner will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate.

Saturday's graduation will also be among the last official duties of Lincoln College President John Blackburn as he prepares to retire next month. A new president has been selected. Dr. David Gerlach will officially become the college’s 22nd president effective June 15.
