[May 11, 2015]  LINCOLN -  The following information was received from the Illinois State Police, Monday, May 11th at 11:15 a.m.

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by ISP District 09

WHAT:
3 truck tractor vehicle crash with injuries

WHERE:
I – 55 N/B MP 135

WHEN:
05/10/15 1:30 pm

VEHICLES:
Unit one – red 2001 Freightliner
Unit two – blue 2005 Freightliner
Unit three – red 2015 Freightliner

DRIVERS:
Unit one – Federico Solis 37yo Arizona
Unit two – Jeremy Armbruster 30yo Missouri
Unit three – Duane Johnson 43yo Illinois

PASSENGERS: none

SEATBELTS:  Yes

CAUSE Failure to reduce speed in construction zone

TRANSPORTS:
Driver of Unit 1 was transported to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries.

Drivers of Units 2 and 3 were transported to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln with non -life threatening injuries.

PRELIMINARY:
Unit 2 and Unit 3 were slowing for posted construction zone speed signs. Unit 1 failed to slow for construction zone speed signs and struck the rear of Unit 2. Unit 2 was forced into the rear of Unit 3. I- 55 northbound lanes of traffic closed approximately four hours.

CHARGES:
Pending the completion of the crash investigation.
