[May 12, 2015]  The Lincoln Historic Preservation Commission will sponsor a free workshop "All About Abstracts" at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30th in the Lincoln Public Library Pegram Room. The guest speaker will be Bonnie Young, title abstract expert and former manager of Logan County Title Company.

The workshop will assist local homeowners interested in researching their homes’ histories. Young plans to explain common real estate documents such as deeds and liens. She also will discuss how to interpret abstracts and/or chains of title.

Determining when a home was built and by whom should be of particular importance to those living in Lincoln’s oldest and most “historic” homes. Young’s presentation is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and she will be available for questions afterward.

For those interested in attending the workshop, sign up by contacting April Doolin with the Historic Preservation Commission at llhpc@cityoflincoln-il.gov  or by calling the city zoning office’s number 732-6318.
