[May 13, 2015]  BELLEVILLE - The 2014 Consumer Confidence Reports – or Water Quality Reports – for Illinois American Water’s service areas are now available, and indicate a continuation of excellence in water quality. The reports, provided annually, are available on Illinois American Water’s website at www.illinoisamwater.com  via the Water Quality & Stewardship link, searchable by zip code.

“Our team is dedicated to providing water service that is of better quality than what is required by state and federal standards,” said Bruce Hauk, president. “We work hard every day to ensure the delivery of safe, clean, reliable and affordable water to our customers, and these reports give customers a detailed view of our team’s success.”

The Consumer Confidence Report is an annual performance measure of the quality of water supplied by Illinois American Water against the compliance standards established by the U.S. and Illinois Environmental Protection Agencies. The report describes drinking water sources, testing conducted on the water, substances detected, and the levels of those substances. Commonly asked questions and the associated answers concerning drinking water are also included.

“The process of taking water from its source to the tap is much more complex than many people realize, and nothing is more important than the exhaustive testing that takes place along the way,” added Hauk. “Our team makes sure that water is constantly monitored during the treatment process by computer-controlled analyzers that continually check and measure the clarity of the water, its pH balance, temperature, and a wide range of other critical factors. Then, we perform more tests, not just before the water leaves the plant, but also as it travels through the system of water pipes on its way to customers.”
