[May 14, 2015]  MOUNT PULASKI - The Toppers lost a tough conference matchup 2-1 to Delavan Wednesday afternoon.

The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when Mount Pulaski scored their only run of the game. Brett Huff and Michael Lowery walked and Huff came around to score on a base hit to right field by Matt Amidon. Blake Collier retired the side quickly in the bottom of the sixth inning and it looked like the senior was dealing from the mound.

But it was senior night for the Panthers and in the bottom of the seventh inning the first batter reached on an error and advanced to second on a perfect sacrifice bunt. The next batter hit the ball to deep short and Lowery fielded the ball cleanly but the runner just beat it out at first. Senior Mitchell Carr followed that up with a smash to right field that rolled under the fielder's glove and the two base runners came racing home for the 2-1 Panthers victory.

A tough loss for the Toppers who have their own senior night Friday versus the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals at Bob Gasaway Field.

The Toppers record falls to 13-11, while Delavan's record sits at 9-11 on the season.
