[May 14, 2015]  Since opening the doors of the first restaurant in 1984, Culver’s® has been committed to being an active member in its local community. On Tuesday, May 19th Culver’s of Lincoln at 2530 Woodlawn Road will carry on that tradition by donating a portion of their sales to raise funds for Land of Lincoln Honor Flight between 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Land of Lincoln Honor Flight is part of a nation-wide network dedicated to providing all veterans from WWII, Korean and Vietnam Eras a free trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials honoring their service and sacrifice. Veterans are provided the flight, ground transportation, meals/snack, and beverages on this trip. Trained volunteers guardians provide assistance and accompany the veterans on their flight. The trip and everything provided is free to the veterans.

Since the start of the Honor Flights here in Central Illinois, over 2,200 veterans have taken the trip, with over 700 still left on the waiting list. Thirty-nine of those being WWII vets.

“This is a great opportunity that allows us to help send our local veterans to Washington, D.C.”, said owner, Elaine Aue. “We strive to make a different in the community we share with so many others, and working with Land of Lincoln Honor Flight allows us to help those individuals who haven’t been on the flight a chance to go.”

Culver’s support of the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight is just part of their dedication to giving back to the community. From Culver’s founders to each locally owned and operated restaurant, each franchise partner and team member understands the importance of serving those in need. More information about Land of Lincoln Honor Flight can be found at their website, http://landoflincolnhonorflight.org.
