ST. LOUIS -- Miguel Cabrera became his country's all-time leading home run hitter Friday night as the Detroit Tigers started a marquee interleague series with a statement win.

The Venezuelan first baseman launched his 399th career homer, surpassing former major leaguer Andres Galarraga, to key Detroit's late-game explosion that led to a 10-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at sold-out Busch Stadium.

Cabrera's two-run blast off reliever Mitch Harris to center field in the top of the seventh gave the Tigers a 4-0 lead. It was followed by a solo shot by right fielder J.D. Martinez, his eighth.

Twins 3, Rays 2

MINNEAPOLIS -- A two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Minnesota over Tampa.

Trailing 2-1, the Twins got a leadoff single by Aaron Hicks and Danny Santana followed with an RBI triple. Santana scored when the next batter, Brian Dozier, flew out to center field.

Twins' Blaine Boyer worked around a leadoff single in the eighth and closer Glen Perkins pitched a scoreless ninth for his 12th save this season and 100th of his career.

Royals 12, Yankees 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Lorenzo Cain drove in a career-high five runs, and Chris Young provided Kansas with another solid start.

Mike Moustakas stroked four hits and scored three runs, both equaling career bests. Three of his hits went for extra bases. The Royals' dozen runs matched a season high, while their 17 hits was one shy of their 2015 best.

Young, who was making just his third start after beginning the year in the bullpen, limited the Yankees to four hits and one run over 5 2/3 innings.

Indians 8, Rangers 3

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Nick Swisher led a rare Cleveland offensive outburst at Globe Life Park.

The Indians beat Texas for 12th time in 13 games in the opener of the three-game series. Should they make it 13 of 14 on Saturday, it would mark the Cleveland's first series win and two-game winning streak since the opening series of the season.

Swisher collected three of the club's 12 hits, drove in three and scored once. Jason Kipnis went 4-for-5 and scored three times. Michael Brantley had three hits, two RBIs and crossed the plate three times.

Giants 10, Reds 2

CINCINNATI -- Brandon Belt and Buster Posey homered and Madison Bumgarner pitched seven solid innings, lifting San Francisco past Cincinnati at Great American Ball Park.

About the only drama came in the sixth inning when one of the Power Stacks beyond center field at Great American Ball Park, made to resemble steamboat smokestacks and used as a home-run feature, caught fire, sending thick smoke throughout the ballpark.

Two sections of stands were evacuated while firemen extinguished the flames. The game wasn't interrupted. A propane valve malfunction was cited for the blaze.

Astros 8, Blue Jays 4

HOUSTON -- George Springer, Jose Altuve and Luis Valbuena all smacked home runs while Will Harris turned in a clutch relief performance to lift Houston over Toronto at Minute Maid Park.

With their three homers the Astros increased their American League-leading total to 52. Valbuena extended his club-leading total to nine home runs with his first-pitch blast to right field leading off the seventh inning. Springer also smacked a leadoff homer, in the third.

The right-handed Harris delivered in a critical, high-leverage situation, entering with two runners on and no outs in the seventh to face the heart of the Toronto order with the Astros leading 7-4. Harris preceded to strike out Josh Donaldson before getting Jose Bautista to pop up. Harris then followed with a strikeout of Edwin Encarnacion.

Phillies 4, Diamondbacks 3

PHILADELPHIA -- Pinch-hitter Jeff Franceour drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single in a three-run seventh inning as Philadelphia beat Arizona for its first three-game winning streak of the season.

Freddy Galvis, who reached base three times and scored twice, drove in the other two runs in the inning with a single.

The Phillies began the night as the only team in the major leagues without a winning streak of at least three games. It is their first such streak since they won four consecutive games last August.

Braves 5, Marlins 3

MIAMI -- Atlanta, which had lost five of their past six games, scored two runs in the eighth inning to beat Miami at Marlins Park.

With the score tied at 3, Braves' Nick Markakis hit a one-out double to right and scored on left fielder Todd Cunningham's single. Andrelton Simmons then scored from third base on a strikeout/wild pitch.

Atlanta overcame two home runs by Marlins Giancarlo Stanton, the second of which was hit 474 feet to center field, tying the score at 3 in the seventh. Stanton has 10 homers this season.

Cubs 11, Pirates 10 (12 innings)

CHICAGO -- Chicago won its fifth straight game when Matt Szczur delivered a game-winning hit with bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th inning to score Starlin Castro.

Szczur sent a routine fly to shallow right field that dropped for a hit after the Pirates' Gregory Polanco tripped and fell, giving the Cubs their fourth walk-off win this season.

The game, which lasted 5 hours and 1 minute, featured 21 combined runs and 30 hits while 16 pitchers were used.

Angels 3, Orioles 1

BALTIMORE -- Jered Weaver shut down Baltimore for 7 1/3 innings, and Albert Pujols homered as Los Angeles stretched its winning streak to four games.

Weaver blanked the Orioles in the first seven innings before J.J. Hardy led off the eighth with a home run that cut the Angels' lead to 2-1.

Joe Smith replaced Weaver two batters later and got the final two outs in the eighth before Johnny Giavotella gave the Angels an insurance run with a ninth-inning sacrifice fly.

Brewers 7, Mets 0

NEW YORK -- Kyle Lohse allowed two hits over eight shutout innings and Ryan Braun hit two homers as Milwaukee routed New York.

Gerardo Parra homered, had two RBIs and came within a triple of the cycle for the Brewers who improved to 6-5 under new manager Craig Counsell. Milwaukee also received three hits from third baseman Aramis Ramirez.

Lohse entered Friday with a 7.03 ERA in his first seven starts, but the skidding Mets -- who have lost five straight, a stretch in which they've scored just 10 runs -- proved to be the perfect tonic. The 36-year-old walked just one and struck out eight in a 107-pitch performance.

Mariners 2, Red Sox 1

SEATTLE -- Nelson Cruz's two-out, RBI single with a runner on second base drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as Seattle beat Boston.

With two outs and a runner on second base, Junichi Tazawa was brought in to face Cruz. Rather than pitch around him, Tazawa (0-2) gave up a long single into the gap between left and center field to score Brad Miller easily.

Boston's Clay Buchholz allowed three hits in eight innings, with the only run against him on a home run by Seth Smith with two outs in the sixth. Buchholz struck out 11 without issuing a walk but didn't factor into the decision.

Nationals 10, Padres 0

SAN DIEGO -- Jordan Zimmermann's pitching and Bryce Harper's 13th home run helped Washington whip San Diego.

Zimmermann worked six scoreless innings, allowing six hits and a walk to win his fourth straight decision. A.J. Cole blanked the Padres in the final three innings for his first save.

Harper's blast was just one of the Nationals' season-high 16 hits against Odrisamer Despaigne and three relievers.

Dodgers 6, Rockies 4

LOS ANGELES -- Clayton Kershaw captured his 100th career victory, and Los Angeles earned a victory over Colorado before a crowd of 46,662 at Dodger Stadium.

Los Angeles shortstop Jimmy Rollins homered and went 4-for-5 with two RBIs.

Kershaw (2-2) becomes the second-youngest pitcher, next to Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez, to reach the mark. Kershaw struck out 10, walked three and was charged with three runs on four hits in 6 2/3 innings as the Dodgers (23-12) handed the Rockies (12-20) their 12th loss in 13 games.

White Sox 7, Athletics 6

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Adam LaRoche and Avisail Garcia hit back-to-back two-run doubles in a five-run seventh inning, and Chicago rallied to defeat Oakland at the O.co Coliseum.

The White Sox won their third straight game, all on the road, and won in Oakland for just the second time in their past nine games at the Coliseum.

Oakland lost for the eighth time in their past nine games.
