[May 20, 2015]  LINCOLN - There’s a safer alternative to driving for anyone who has too much to drink celebrating Memorial’s Day in Lincoln. Free rides home will be available to those who need it through the HCP Safe Ride program May 22-25. Safe Ride is a free ride home from any Lincoln establishments and is sponsored by the Healthy Communities Partnership.

“Memorial Day is a holiday of celebration spent with friends and family. Oftentimes alcohol is part of the celebration. The Healthy Communities Partnership offers Safe Rides to help keep the streets safer for everyone. Our hope is that the community will remember the service is available and that bartenders will suggest it when necessary,” said Angela Stoltzenburg, Healthy Community Partnerships Manager.

The program requires participants to ask the bartender for a Safe Ride ticket to receive a free ride home. The bartenders will call the cab company,

A Green Cab of Lincoln. Safe Rides are only provided from the establishment to the rider’s home within the city limits of Lincoln.  Fare's are paid for by the Healthy Communities Partnership Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Destructive behavior task force.

Healthy Communities Partnership is a collaborative organization comprised of community agencies and private individuals striving to create the healthiest community in America. It is supported by the Abraham Lincoln Healthcare Foundation. For more information, visit www.healthycommunitie spartnership.com  or call 217-605-5008.
