Lincoln Heat 10U jumps on Hopedale early and coasts to a 13-4 win in first game, dominates the second game with a 17-5 win

[May 23, 2015]  LINCOLN - In the first game, Lincoln Heat 10U jumped out to an early lead on Hopedale and captured a 13-4 victory on Friday.

Nine runs in the first three innings allowed Lincoln Heat 10U to put the game away early.

A groundout by Andy Knox, a passed ball, and a two-run double by Brenden Wurth in the first inning and a two-run triple by Andy Knox and a passed ball during the second inning supplied the early offense for Lincoln Heat 10U.

Brenden Wurth racked up four RBIs on three hits for Lincoln Heat 10U.

Trey Schilling controlled the pitching, striking out two and allowing three earned runs in four innings. Ryan O’Donoghue pitched the fifth inning to secure his fifth save of the year.
 


For the second game with 12 runs in the first three innings, Lincoln Heat 10U left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI triple by Wyatt Mammen and an error during the first inning and a passed ball, an RBI single by Trey Schilling, a two-run single again by Wyatt Mammen, and a passed ball in the second inning supplied the early offense for Lincoln Heat 10U.

Wyatt Mammen racked up three RBIs on two hits for Lincoln Heat 10U.

Lincoln Heat 10U pushed across five runs in both the third inning and the fourth. In the third, Lincoln Heat 10U scored on an RBI single by Bricen Gillum, scoring Wyatt O'Donoghue.

Lincoln Heat 10U piled on five more runs in the top of the fourth. The inning got off to a hot start when Andy Knox singled, scoring Wyatt Mammen.

The Lincoln Heat 10U continues the harsh road trip this week by going back to Chatham Saturday to continue the Chatham Memorial Day Tournament with an early start at 9:45 a.m. against Jacksonville and a game at 11:30 a.m. against IVC – Chillicothe. The results Saturday, along with their win against Chatham on Thursday will determine their fate for the Championship Game on Sunday.
