Lincoln Police Units arrived on scene and set up a perimeter. As
Lincoln Police and Logan County Sheriff units were arriving on the
scene, the Lincoln Police Department started investigating the
caller and the caller information as the Lincoln Police were aware
of “Swatting” incidents throughout the country. Several red flags
were raised which indicated the call may be false.
Lincoln Police requested Logan Dispatch to attempt contact the
property owner and were able to make contact and the homeowner, who
came out to police and confirmed the call was false.
Lincoln Police checked on all the occupants at the residence and the
information from the original caller was false, and there was no
stabbing at the residence. Lincoln Police continues to investigate
the matter and are working with phone companies to identify the
caller. A false call of this nature would be a Class 4 felony.
