[November 06, 2015]  LINCOLN - Saturday morning those wanting to a little extra punch for their morning exercise are being offered a triple shot:

1 Run or walk race
2 Financial support for local veterans in need
3 Prevent hunger locally by providing food

Ruck Run registration begins at 8 a.m. with the race beginning at 9 a.m. in Kickapoo Creek Park.

Registration fees and monetary donations will go to the local VFW Post 1756 Veteran's Relief Fund.

Anyone wishing to pre-register or make a donation to the fund may do so at REPS Gym located at 300 S. McLean St., Lincoln. It's $30 ($25 military).

In addition, race contestants are urged to wear a backpack with non-perishable food items added. The contents of the backpacks will be weighed and contestants awarded by weight categories.

All food will then be donated to local food pantries.

The first of its kind in Logan County, the 5-K Ruck Run is a triple good way to start your weekend in this month of thanks giving.
