Small Business Saturday began as an American Express initiative
to encourage retail business owners to harness the shopping power of
the holiday season.
Small Business Saturday is about supporting the local economy. Chain
stores owned by bigger companies are usually not based in our
hometown, but small businesses are typically owned by our neighbors.
When shoppers support small businesses, they are supporting the
local economy and local job base.
In an effort to promote the local small businesses, the Chamber is
planning the second annual one-of-a-kind scavenger hunt. The
scavenger hunt will lead shoppers to discover $250 in Chamber Bucks
at participating downtown businesses on Small Business Saturday.
Chamber Bucks are given on a first come first served basis.
The scavenger hunt will begin at 9a.m. The rules are:
- Check-in at the Chamber headquarters tent in the Arcade
Corridor
- Visit a participating business
- Complete the task on the door
- Receive a clue card
- Visit the business on the clue card
- CAREFULLY scavenge for the porcelain watermelon
- Once you have found the watermelon, turn it into a business
associate for CHAMBER BUCKS!
- Complete the task at your current location and follow the
clue to the next business.

When all the gift cards are gone, the game is not over. Participants that
collect all of the clue cards from participating businesses and turn them into
the headquarters tent, located in the Arcade Corridor, before 2pm will be
entered to win the grand prize that includes great prizes from local stores.
