[November 16, 2015]  QUINCY – Quincy University Athletic Department named former Lynx student-athlete, Carla Passini head women’s softball coach.

Passini replaces Char Obert, who coached at Quincy University (QU) for 10 years and amassed a 266-242 record, good for the second-winningest coach of all time. Obert accepted a position outside of coaching which would not allow her to continue her duties as head coach.

Passini, a 2009 graduate of Lincoln College and Lyman Athletic Award recipient has been a part of the QU coaching staff for four years in the following roles: student assistant, graduate assistant, and most recently, full-time staff member. This past summer, Passini was promoted to associate head coach.

After Passini’s time at Lincoln College as a student and softball player, she transferred to QU in 2010 and continued to play softball for two seasons (2010-11). During her senior year at QU, Passini started all 52 games and played on back-to-back NCAA Tournament qualifying teams.

Former Lincoln College softball coach, John Andrews, coached Passini during her time at LC and spoke about her leadership. “Carla was definitely our leader on and off the field; she was a two year starter for me as a catcher. She played a little third base but most of the time was spent behind the plate.”

“Carla was one of the best defensive catchers I ever had at Lincoln College. I had so much confidence in her coming out of high school that I let her call her own games. She quickly developed into one of the top catchers in the M-WAC Conference and Region 24,” said Andrews, “I am not surprised that she has been named head coach in such a short time, she will do well. Congratulations Carla and best of luck.”
