NBA roundup: Butler's defense carries Bulls to win

[November 17, 2015]  CHICAGO -- Chicago's Jimmy Butler blocked Indiana's Paul George's game-winning shot attempt just before time expired, and the Bulls pulled out a 96-95 victory at the United Center on Monday.

Butler, who scored 17 points, gave the Bulls a 96-93 lead with 15-foot jumper with 1:23 remaining. The Pacers pulled within a point when guard Monta Ellis scored with 45 seconds remaining. Chicago failed to score on its next possession, giving Indiana a final chance to take the lead.

Bulls guard Derrick Rose scored a team-high 23 points, but he missed the final stretch of the fourth quarter due to a left ankle injury. He sustained the injury with 7:01 remaining and did not return. He also had a team-high six assists.

Suns 120, Lakers 101

PHOENIX -- Brandon Knight recorded his first career triple-double with 30 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 15 assists as Phoenix broke open a tight game early in the fourth quarter.

Eric Bledsoe continued his hot scoring streak with 21 points, all in the first three quarters, extending his career-long streak of games with 20 or more points to five.

Jordan Clarkson had 20 points for Los Angeles, who played without the resting Kobe Bryant.

Spurs 93, Trail Blazers 80

SAN ANTONIO -- Kawhi Leonard scored 19 points and Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker hit key shots down the stretch as San Antonio outlasted Portland for its fifth straight victory.

The Spurs led for all but two minutes in the first quarter but the game went down to the final minutes, when the Trail Blazers got to within 81-78 on a 3-pointer by Noah Vonleh with 3:48 to play. San Antonio outscored Portland 12-2 down the stretch.

Ginobili added 17 points for the Spurs while Boris Diaw and Danny Green hit for 12 and Parker and Tim Duncan scored 10 apiece.

Celtics 111, Rockets 95

HOUSTON -- Avery Bradley scored 21 points off the bench as Boston turned a pair of backbreaking runs into a win over struggling Houston.

Isaiah Thomas added 23 points and six assists as Boston erased what was once a 15-point deficit with a 15-0 blitz late in the second quarter, a spurt that included eight points from Bradley.

Boston put the game on ice by closing the third quarter with another 15-0 run, turning a 72-68 lead into an 87-68 runaway entering the fourth.

Mavericks 92, 76ers 86

PHILADELPHIA -- Dirk Nowitzki scored seven of his 21 points in the final 3:23 as Dallas held off winless Philadelphia.

Chandler Parsons added a season-high 20 -- all in the first half -- for Dallas, which used a game-ending 11-4 rush to win its fourth straight.

Deron Williams contributed 12 points and six assists.

Grizzlies 122, Thunder 114

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- In just his third game with Memphis, Mario Chalmers set his career high for points off the bench with 29 in a win over Oklahoma City, which was playing without Kevin Durant for the third straight game.

Chalmers, recently acquired in a trade with Miami, did much of his work in the fourth quarter, scoring 16 points and knocking down two 3-pointers.

Russell Westbrook had a double-double with 40 points and 14 assists, going 13-for-19 from the field and 5-for-8 from 3-point range for the Thunder.
