ALMH announce Amy Knox as Sports Certified Specialist

[November 18, 2015]  LINCOLN – Amy Knox, a physical therapist with Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, has earned certification as a Sports Certified Specialist from the American Physical Therapy Association.

As of June 2014, there were 34 Sports Certified Specialists in Illinois, and 1,424 in the United States.

In order to become a Sports Certified Specialist, individuals must have at least 2,000 hours of clinical practice experience working directly with patients in sports physical therapy, become certified by the American Red Cross as an Emergency Medical Responder, and pass the certification examination. Knox spent almost two years preparing for the certification process and was financially supported by the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Knox has been with the nonprofit hospital since 2012. She is a board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy and earned Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She has a special interest in ACL reconstruction rehabilitation.
