NHL roundup: Anderson, Sens blank Jackets

[November 20, 2015]  OTTAWA -- Craig Anderson recorded his first shutout of the season and the 30th of his career as the Ottawa Senators defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-0 Thursday night at Canadian Tire Centre.

Anderson's 25 save performance was aided by Erik Karlsson, who led the Senators with two goals. Kyle Turris added the third into an empty net with 41 seconds remaining.

Curtis McElhinney stopped 26 shots in defeat for the Blue Jackets.

Penguins 4, Avalanche 3

PITTSBURGH -- David Perron, Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz scored in a span of 2:08 in the second period and Sidney Crosby added a goal in the third to lead Pittsburgh past Colorado.

It was the second win in a row for Pittsburgh, which has struggled to score but has four goals in each of the two wins.

Matt Duchesne scored twice and Tyson Barrie once for Colorado.

Stars 3, Capitals 2

WASHINGTON -- Jason Spezza scored the go-ahead goal with 8:50 left to play and Dallas defeated Washington despite Alex Ovechkin setting an NHL career goal-scoring mark for Russian-born players.

Ovechkin had tied it when he scored his 484th career goal earlier in the period, surpassing Sergei Fedorov for the most NHL goals by a Russian-born player.

Tyler Seguin and Cody Eakin also scored for Dallas, which got 33 saves from Kari Lehtonen. John Klingberg had two assists and Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and an assist for Washington.

Bruins 4, Wild 2

BOSTON -- Loui Eriksson delivered the third hat trick of his NHL career, leading Boston over Minnesota.

The hat trick was Eriksson's first since Dec. 31, 2009. Brad Marchand scored the Bruins' first goal.

Jordan Zucker and Jordan Schroeder scored for the Wild.

Sharks 1, Flyers 0 (OT)

PHILADELPHIA -- San Jose won it with 1:15 left in overtime to top Philadelphia when Melker Karlsson scored on a 2-on-1 rush off a pass from Joonas Donskoi.

The Sharks won their fourth straight in the midst of a six-game road trip, improving to 8-3-0 away from home. San Jose also prolonged its dominance of Philadelphia, winning for the 13th time over the last 14 meetings.

Meanwhile, the Flyers continued their home futility. Philadelphia hasn't won in its own building since Oct. 24 and has lost 10 of its last 12 overall.

Lightning 2, Rangers 1

TAMPA, Fla. -- Valtteri Filppula scored late to lead Tampa Bay over the New York Rangers at Amalie Arena.

Alex Killorn gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead in the first period and carried it until late in the third, when a turnover deep in their own zone set up a goal by Dominic Moore, who tied the game on his second goal of the season.

Ducks 3, Panthers 1

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Cam Fowler, Andrew Cogliano and Jakob Silfverberg scored, and Frederik Andersen ended his slump as Anaheim defeated Florida at the BB&T Center.

It was just the second win in the past six games for Anaheim. Meanwhile, Florida, even with the loss, won three of its past five games.

Aleksander Barkov scored the Panthers goal.

Coyotes 3, Canadiens 2

MONTREAL -- Arizona made the most of its chances to give the club a win over Montreal at the Bell Centre.

Mike Smith made 32 saves for the Coyotes, who won three straight road games in Canada to begin a season for the first time since 1981. Mike Condon stopped 17 shots for Montreal.

Martin Hanzal, Shane Doan and Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored for Arizona. Max Pacioretty and Dale Weise connected for the Canadiens.

Blues 3, Sabres 2 (SO)

ST. LOUIS -- Alexander Steen scored the only goal in the shootout to lift St. Louis over Buffalo.

Kevin Shattenkirk and Vladimir Tarasenko scored power-play goals in regulation for the Blues. It was only the second time this season they have scored two power-play goals in a game.

Ryan O'Reilly and Sam Reinhart scored for the Sabres.
