Lincoln Community High School speech teams places eighth at first tournament of the year

[November 23, 2015]  NORMAL - The Lincoln Community High School speech team opened their season Saturday at Normal Community West High School in Normal. The team placed 8th out of 15 teams in this first tournament.



Junior Claire Conrady won Original Comedy; seniors Lena Stapleton and McKenzie Landers were 2nd in Humorous Duet Acting; Stapleton was 4th in Prose Reading; junior Reagen Tibbs was 4th in Extemporaneous Speaking; Conrady was 7th in Prose Reading; sophomore Justin Woods was 7th in Humorous Interpretation; senior Jordan Wood was 7th in junior varsity Oratorical Declamation and sophomore Issac Dueringer was 6th in JV Extemp.

"This first tournament is always plagued with memorization issues," said head coach Jennifer Keith, "so we are thrilled that so many did well and those that didn't know now what they need to work on."

The team has doubled since last year with many new freshmen faces filling in. The team travels to Charleston today (Saturday).
