The Christian Village thanks and blesses the hands of love and service

[November 25, 2015]  The Christian Village has discovered a unique way to express their gratitude for staff members.

On Monday Chaplain Ryan Edgecombe and Chaplain Jeri Dennis anointed their co-worker’s hands with oil and asked God to bless them in their unique and valuable work in caring and advocating for each resident.

 “Oil has traditionally been used in the Bible to set apart a child of God for a sacred work or purpose. In anointing the hands of our co-workers and then praying for them, we are giving thanks to God for the special ministry that He has placed them in,” said Edgecombe.

The duo blessed and prayed for over 100 pairs of hands on all three shifts.

The Pastoral Care Team at The Christian Village would like to share the following blessing with every employee in every retirement community in Logan County. They want you to know that your work is important and that God notices it!

Blessed be the hands that embrace others with compassion

Blessed be the hands that administer medicine or bandage wounds

Blessed be the hands that prepare meals, or repair wheelchairs

Blessed be the hands that wash dishes, clean floors, or fold laundry

Blessed be the hands that comfort the dying and have held the dead

Blessed be the hands that receive and sort information, the hands that determine and stay within budgets

Blessed be the hands that capture a memory in art and poetry and song and conversation

Blessed be the hands that greet strangers and make them friends

Blessed be the hands that feed, and dress, and clean, and protect

Blessed be THESE hands

Blessed be OUR hands, for they are the work of Your hands
