This past weekend, the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce assisted the downtown businesses in Lincoln in promoting the “Shop small / Shop local” theme of Small Business Saturday.

Once again this year, the Chamber offered a scavenger hunt with clues taped to the front doors of participating businesses, a hidden ceramic watermelon, and a second clue given by the merchant once the watermelon was found. Throughout the day, the various businesses in Lincoln had folks searching and happily finding the little watermelon tucked away somewhere inside their store. Once the melon was found, the stores rewarded the finder with a gift of Chamber Bucks that could be spent at any participating Chamber member retailer.

For shoppers who visited all the participating stores, there was an opportunity to enter into a drawing for additional gifts. At 2 p.m., several of the shoppers of the day gathered at By the Bean on the west side of the square, to see if they might be the winner of one of four gift bags given out.

Cox commented that it had been a fun day, and she felt like there had been a good turnout. She noted that at least 30 people did visit all the participating stores, and returned to the coffee house to enter for the gift bags.

Nicole Cox and Connor Browne of the Chamber drew out the names one at a time, while Chamber office assistant Jaimie Bishop read aloud the contents of each bag.
