[October 13, 2015]  LINCOLN - The Illinois Raptor Center is a 25 acre wildlife rehabilitation and conservation education facility along the Sangamon River at 5695 W. Hill Road in Decatur, IL. The IRC has served the wildlife and people of Illinois with wildlife rehabilitation and conservation education since 1991.

It is very rare that the IRC opens ups its wildlife hospital and rehabilitation facilities to the public. During Public Tour Day however, the public will get to tour the wildlife hospital and rehabilitation area, the Ameren Education Raptor Complex, the nature/education center and trails. Many raptors will be on display. The theme of the day is "How to Help Without Hurting." The IRC will focus on ways the public can help wildlife stay in the wild.

Tickets are free and available on the IRC website at www.illinoisraptorcenter.org.  Tour times are 10:00 a.m. to noon, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18th.
