[October 14, 2015]  PITTSBURGH -- Tomas Fleischmann scored early in the third period after Montreal twice couldn't hold leads created by Max Pacioretty goals, and the Canadiens finished off a sweep of a season-opening four-game road trip by beating the winless Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 Tuesday night.

The Penguins, outscored 8-3 so far while going 0-3-0, are off to their worst start since they were 0-4-4 in 2005-06, Crosby's rookie season.

Carey Price made 31 saves for the Canadiens.

Beau Bennett and Kris Letang scored for Pittsburgh, while Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves in the loss.

Sharks 5, Capitals 0

WASHINGTON -- Martin Jones stopped 31 shots for his second consecutive shutout, and San Jose kicked off a four-game road trip by blanking Washington.

Matt Nieto and center Chris Tierney each had an empty-net goal and an assist. Joe Thornton, Mike Brown and Tomas Hertl also scored for San Jose and Barclay Goodrow contributed two assists.

Goalie Braden Holtby had 27 saves for Washington.
 


Jets 4, Rangers 1

NEW YORK -- Michael Hutchinson made 40 saves -- including 20 in the second period -- as Winnipeg defeated the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Bryan Little scored twice and Nikolaj Ehlers and Mark Stuart scored one each for the Jets.

Mats Zuccarello scored his third goal of the season for the Rangers.

Panthers 4, Hurricanes 1

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Rookie Connor Brickley's first career NHL goal with 7:42 remaining broke a tie and helped Florida top Carolina at PNC Arena.

Nick Bjugstad, Aleksander Barkov and Jussi Jokinen also scored for Florida and Al Montoya made 22 saves in his season debut for the Panthers

Eddie Lack, making his Carolina debut, stopped 26 shots and Elias Lindholm scored his team's lone goal.

Predators 3, Devils 1

NEWARK, N.J. -- Pekka Rinne turned aside 22 shots and Roman Josi scored two goals, leading Nashville over New Jersey at the Prudential Center.

Eric Nystrom scored an empty-net goal in the closing minutes for Nashville.

Kyle Palmieri scored his first goal with the Devils on a power play late in the third period.

Red Wings 3, Lightning 1

DETROIT -- Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and an assist to lead Detroit to a win against Tampa Bay at Joe Louis Arena.

Gustav Nyquist and Kyle Quincey also scored for Detroit and Jimmy Howard made 20 saves.

Ryan Callahan scored for Tampa Bay and Ben Bishop stopped 21 shots.

Stars 4, Oilers 2

DALLAS -- Jason Spezza scored a hat trick, including the game-winner late in the third period, and goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped 26 of 28 shots in his first start of the season to lead Dallas over Edmonton at American Airlines Center.

Stars captain Jamie Benn also scored for Dallas (2-1-0).

Edmonton got goals from Oscar Klefbom and Connor McDavid, his first NHL goal. Benoit Pouliot had two assists for the Oilers.

Blues 4, Flames 3

CALGARY, Alberta -- Colton Parayko scored twice to lead St. Louis over Calgary at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Troy Brouwer had a goal and an assist for the Blues, while Scottie Upshall scored once. Brian Elliott made 15 saves to record his second win of the season.

Mason Raymond, Jiri Hudler and David Jones all scored for the Flames, while Dennis Wideman and Michael Frolik chipped in with two assists each. Jonas Hiller stopped 24 of 28 shots he faced.

Canucks 3, Kings 0

LOS ANGELES -- Ryan Miller celebrated his 600th start with a shutout, leading Vancouver to a victory over winless Los Angeles.
 


Adam Cracknell and Alexander Edler tallied second-period goals, and Derek Dorsett added an empty-netter with 2:39 remaining as the Canucks defeated the Kings for the third consecutive time.

Miller stopped all 15 shots he faced. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick saved 23 of 25 attempts.
