[October 17, 2015]  Oct 16 (The Sports Xchange) - The New Orleans Pelicans signed veteran point guard Nate Robinson, the club announced on Friday.

New Orleans recently lost guard Norris Cole for six weeks with an ankle injury and the 5-foot-9 Robinson was signed to plug the gap. He has a career scoring average of 11.1 while playing for seven different NBA teams over the past 10 seasons.

The Pelicans also announced they have waived 7-1 center Mirza Begic.

The Charlotte Hornets signed free agent guard/forward Damien Wilkins.

A nine-year NBA veteran, Wilkins has played in 563 games (149 starts) for the SuperSonics/Thunder, Timberwolves, Hawks, Pistons and 76ers, owning career averages of 6.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 19.3 minutes per game.

Wilkins, 35, most recently played for Indios de Mayaguez of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional League in Puerto Rico where he averaged 17.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 31.8 minutes per game.

Brooklyn Nets center Willie Reed had surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb, the Nets announced.

Reed is expected to be sidelined about six to eight weeks.
