[October 17, 2015]  MINIER - In July, 2010 friends, family and colleagues of former police officer Robert “Bob” Quarello organized a youth scholarship to honor Quarello’s commitment and service to area communities and youth in those communities.

Quarello, 55, passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2010 leaving a void within the law enforcement community. Quarello committed over forty years of service to serving the public as a police officer, 9-1-1 dispatcher, EMT, D.A.R.E. officer, and advisor for the Law Enforcement Explorer Program.

Since the scholarship’s inception, a total of $10,750 has been granted to area students to assist them with their advancement in education in criminal justice or related fields.

The scholarship fund received generous support from the communities where Bob Quarello made his greatest impact in people’s lives. The committee works tirelessly to continue a legacy that Quarello created – helping youth in the communities he served, and furthering support for criminal justice.
