[October 27, 2015]  Oct 26 (The Sports Xchange) - The Nashville Predators signed restricted free agent defenseman Mattias Ekholm to a six-year, $22.5 million contract Monday.

The deal carries an average annual value of $3.75 million.

Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane will miss 4-to-6 weeks with an injury to the MCL in his left knee, coach Dan Bylsma announced.

Kane left Saturday night's game against the New Jersey Devils after sustaining an injury to his left leg during the third period. He was checked into the boards by Devils defenseman David Schlemko and Kane needed assistance to get to the locker room.

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Green will be out 2-to-3 weeks because of an upper-body injury, the Red Wings announced.

Green, 30, was injured in the first period on Friday night against the Calgary Flames. He sat out Saturday's game against the Vancouver Canucks.

New Jersey Devils forward Tuomo Ruutu is expected to be out 4-to-6 weeks with a fracture in his right foot.

Ruutu has missed the past four games with a foot injury. The Devils said Monday that the fracture did not show up initially.

The Anaheim Ducks recalled center Chris Wagner from the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League on Monday.

Wagner, 24, has appeared in one game for Anaheim this season, going scoreless on one shot on Oct. 16. He recorded one goal and one assist with a plus-2 rating and 16 penalty minutes in three games with San Diego this season.

Winnipeg Jets forward Alexander Burmistrov has been fined nearly $4,167 for elbowing Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon during Sunday's contest.

The amount of the fine is the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Burmistrov was assessed a minor penalty.

The San Jose Sharks reassigned forwards Bryan Lerg and John McCarthy and defenseman Mirco Mueller to the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League.

The Minnesota Wild reassigned forward Kurtis Gabriel to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League on Monday.

Gabriel, 22, was recalled by Minnesota on Saturday and did not appear in a game. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
