[October 28, 2015]  Oct 27 (The Sports Xchange) - Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf was sent back home with an appendicitis before the Ducks' game on Tuesday night in Dallas against the Stars.

Getzlaf, who is expected to be sidelined about four to 12 days, is scheduled for a non-emergency appendectomy on Wednesday in Orange County (Calif.), the team said in a statement.

The St. Louis Blues extended invitations on Tuesday to veteran forwards Martin Havlat and Dainius Zubrus for professional tryouts.

The 34-year-old Havlat played for the New Jersey Devils last season and had five goals, nine assists and 10 penalty minutes in 40 regular-season games. The 37-year-old Zubrus also spent 2014-15 with the Devils and had four goals, six assists and 42 penalty minutes in 74 regular-season games.

Veteran winger Maxime Talbot, a non-factor during the three weeks of the season for the Boston Bruins, was sent to the American Hockey League on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old Talbot had no points in two appearances. He sat out five of Boston's seven games as a healthy scratch. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
