[October 29, 2015]  LINCOLN - On Tuesday, the Lincoln College Volleyball team traveled to Galesburg, to take on the Carl Sandburg Chargers.

Lincoln used stingy defense and a balanced offensive attack to win set one 25-21. In set two, LC was ahead 15-12 when an injury to libero Brighton Robbins caused them to have to reshuffle their defense and the lead quickly disappeared. After gong down by two points, Lincoln was unable to regain the momentum and lost the set 25-22.

In set three the Lady Lynx got behind early and eventually trailed 18-14, but a 4 point run of serves by sophomore Kayla Dierker gave Lincoln the momentum. The two teams traded side outs up to a tie score of 23-23 when two stuff blocks for points by Lincoln's front row gave LC the 25-23 set win.

Set four was just as intense with Lincoln holding on to a slim lead most of the way. LC eventually went up 24-23 and a kill by freshman Gina Moore sealed the win 25-23.

Lincoln improves to 19-13 on the year.

LC Coach Mark Tippett: "A couple of weeks ago we beat Sandburg in three quick sets at home, but tonight they looked like a different team. They really pushed us, which is exactly what we needed at this point in the season. It was a valuable preview of the kind of pressure we are bound to be under at our Regional match at Lewis & Clark next week. I was encouraged by the way our players responded to the challenge. When things got tight, we stayed aggressive on offense and our blockers really stepped up when we needed them to. This was a team effort, and I was proud of the way we played tonight."
