[September 01, 2015]  LINCOLN - Arta L. Smith, 93, of Lincoln passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 12:10 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

Visitation: Friday, September 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Peasley Funeral Home.

Service: Friday, September 4, 2015 at Noon at the funeral home.

Obituary

Arta L. Smith, 93, of Lincoln passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 12:10 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at the Peasley Funeral Home with Mr. Tim Searby officiatingating.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.  Cremation rites have been accorded.

Arta L. Smith was born on March 19, 1922 in Freeport, Illinois the daughter of Arthur D. and Corine Spencer Machamer.

She was married to William Murphy in 1945 and then united in marriage to Dr. George N. Smith in 1966. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2011.

She is survived by one daughter: Patricia (Denny) O'Boyle of Chillicothe. Two grandsons: Dr. David P. (Rachel) Wickness of Franklin, Tennessee, Scott M. Wickness of Denver, Colorado. Three great granddaughters: Marissa, Ava and Lennon Wickness.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

She graduated from the Stockton High School and attended nursing training at Freeport Memorial Hospital. During the
war she worked as a nurse in Wisconsin and later as a dental assistant.
